AA. Ukulhas

Ukulhas is well known for its cleanliness, and well-maintained waste management system, and is known as the first systematically waste-managed island in the history of the Republic of Maldives. Ukulhas conducts several cleaning and planting programs each year and organizes several awareness programs on waste management, marine ecosystems, and biodiversity. As being recognized as an environmental role model island in the Republic of Maldives, Ukulhas achieved a Green Leaf award in 2014 for its outstanding services in protecting and preserving the island's environment.

Traditional Welcome Ceremony

A very warm traditional welcome at Ukulhas Beach to all our guests, with tender coconuts and traditional music including local drums (Boduberu). A fact sheet about Ukulhas will also be handed over to each guest.

Island Tour

A demonstration of the unique and cultural art of weaving coconut palm leaves (Fangi vinun), iloshi kehun, and other traditional works, a tour of the Waste management center, and a tour of the Convention center.

Traditional Feast

Activity 4, 11th March 2023

A traditional dinner (including an array of exquisite Maldivian cuisine) for the participants at Ukulhas Convention center with live Music. A Marketing Stall will also be placed which exhibits the unique traditional and cultural products of the Ukulhas.
